JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Jackson Hole resident David Dodson announced his intention to run for the US Senate, challenging John Barrasso’s seat. Dodson says he will run as an Independent.
A self-made entrepreneur with an impressive track record of growing companies and creating jobs, Dodson will focus on Wyoming’s economy, which he claims is the weakest of all 50 states.
“That’s unacceptable, and it makes me mad,” Dodson states in his campaign platform. “We’ve had lousy economic leadership from John Barrasso, and I intend to give everything I’ve got to do something about it.”
Part of the problem, according to Dodson, is a rigged system that works against the middle class and for the wealthiest. He is running as an independent candidate to distance himself from DC politics that focuses on money instead of getting things done.
“It’s time to dump party-first politicians who try to make Americans believe that one half of us hates the other half of us,” Dodson stated. “Our politicians have stopped working for the voters and instead only care about their donors. They’ve quit worrying about the communities they represent and instead worry only about their careers. They’re willing to sow distrust and hatred among Americans to ensure they get re-elected.”
BuzzJour is claiming Dodson has come $1 million in his war chest. Barrasso has an estimated $5 million in campaign funds. Challengers to Barrasso have been slow in coming. Mega-donor Foster Friess made noise about running months ago but nothing has materialized. Gary Trauner announced his bid for the Democratic nomination in December.
Dodson is married to Wendy. The couple has three grown daughters—Rachel, Hannah, and Caroline.
